General
The Business Improvement Game® alias The Management Challenge ® is a workshop for managers, supervisors and senior employees of organisations. It is a simulation game in which participants learn to recognize the consequences of their actions. (further)
Goal
The goal of doing a simulation alike is getting insight in the effects of managing an organisation. Participants learn to recognise influences of managers' drives on the respective aspects of management in an organisation. On the top off they also get a good view on the use (and distribution) of energy invested in managing their virtual organisation.
How does it work
The workshops actually are simulations of running a business. Participants run, as a team, a virtual business that they themselves define. They compete with other teams in the workshop.
Each team conceives its own organisation. Their charter is to define their own strategy, short term and long term, and they also are requested to... (further)
Background
This simulation is based on paying attention to additional aspects in the organisation besides results. This is no denial of the value of results for an organisation but moreover a push to pay attention to other results and showing tools to achieve business results better and faster by introducing a more balanced way of management. The Business Improvement Game® is executed as a team simulation; respective participating teams compete with each other in running a business. (further)
Feedback
During the execution of the simulation workshop participating teams get elaborated feedback on a vast number of aspect of management of their virtual organisations. (further)
INK-managementmodel
Course of actions participating teams are confronted with are related to all elements of the INK-managementmdel of the INK. The effects of actions initiated are shown as a share value result and as changes in the 9 elements of the INK-managementmodel.
These effects and moreover the balance of the effects on the 9 elements of the INK-managementmodel will show which of the teams has te master view (eye).
This simulation can be executed with several teams. Each team preferably consisting of 5 to 7 participants. This simulation will be supported by one or more well-trained facilitators. It can be run through Internet, but of course one can also run it "on site" with personal facilitation. The facilitators (all trained by Vanderveldt BIC) will together with the potential customer define which version will be used. Also specific additions can be chosen from, like integral care (Ohsas, Environmental and ISO). A number of languages are implemented in such a way that participants, teams and sessions may use their own choice of language.
In any chosen issue the starting position can be defined according to the customers choice. This can for example be chosen based on earlier assessment of the participating organisation(s). This way a realistic starting point can be used to tailor the simulation to the real customer situation.
